Scampini's Preghiere date back to the same period as the Intrecci and are towering, mystical forms sculpted in a species of African hardwood similar to ebony. Totemic sculptures that reach upwards, like silent apparitions, mediators of an unremitting exchange between heaven and earth, spirit and matter, whereby posing a multitude of questions signifies opening one's heart and mind to all that is divine.
